Broncos head coach Sean Payton spoke on the first day of training camp Friday about his strong comments in a USA Today article. He said the comments were a mistake.

In an explosive article Thursday published by USA TODAY and written by NFL reporter Jarrett Bell, Payton didn’t hold back in assessing blame on the Broncos’ 5-12 season last year on Denver’s no-longer head coach Nathaniel Hackett and other team executives.
